A class on Handgun Fundamentals is available under 2 options.
Option 1: Once a student is registered in
a LTC Course, we will make available a practice session, at the Bexar
Community Shooting Range. We will provide hearing and eye
protection, as well as a 'loaner'
handgun at no charge.
The cost to the student will be
(1)the shooting range fee in effect at the time of the session, and
(2)the cost of 100 rounds of
ammunition, appropriate for the handgun they will be using. Students
borrowing a gun are asked to bring 9mm range/target ammo (no
reloads - no steel cases).
We will provide instruction time,
free of charge.
Since Handgun Fundamentals classes proceed at the student's pace, it
is difficult to gauge the length of the session, however, most will last
Handgun Fundamentals Class will include:
Basic Handling Skills
Follow through & recovery
Most sessions begin with a laser training pistol. After the
student is able to demonstrate a command of the fundamentals, they
will transition to either their own firearm or one of our 9mm pistols.
The session concludes with the Texas LTC qualification course of
Prerequisites - The Student must:
Be enrolled in a Staying Alive LTC Course,
Provide 100 rounds of ammunition of appropriate ammunition,
Pay the shooting range fee for the practice session,
Be at least 21 years of age (18 if currently serving or
honorably discharged member of the US Armed
Option 2: The same course is available without a LTC Class
